Thought Field Center of Hawaii, dedicated to the teaching of TFT: a self-help method developed by Dr. Roger Callahan, designed to empower and address our unresolved emotional, health, and performance issues.

Caroline Sakai has 36 years of clinical practice, and served as Chief Psychologist at Hawaii Kaiser Behavioral Health Services. She has a published a study on Thought Field Therapy. She presented on TFT at the 17th World Congress of Psychosomatic Medicine, and the 7th Annual International Energy Psychology Conference.

Dr. Sakai is currently in private practice, and is an authorized trainer of Thought Field Therapy.

She has led volunteer clinical teams working with TFT with Katrina first responders and survivors, and genocide survivors in Rwanda. TFT Center is run by Dr. Caroline Sakai, an authorized trainer of Callahan Techniques Thought Field Therapy. She has been practicing TFT, and conducting professional courses for health professionals since 1998. Dr.Sakai has been a practicing clinical therapist since 1966, and has masters degrees in Social Work and Psychology, and has her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Pacific Graduate School in Palo Alto, California. Her emphasis is on empowering clients to enhance their functioning and optimizing their health through the most efficient modalities, and utilizing methods which clients can practice themselves whenever feasible.

She is also an EMDR consultant and facilitator, and has been trained in most of the major traditional therapy approaches.

Dr. Sakai was Chief Psychologist at Kaiser Behavioral Health Services, and retired after 31 years. She developed several group programs including for anxiety, depression, and for teens and children; couples workshops, and an intensive out- patient program, and instituted the Behavioral Medicine Services in Kaiser’s primary care clinics. She has led volunteer clinical teams working with TFT in Rwanda, treating severe post-traumatic stress disorder in genocide survivors, and Course Community Leaders interested in learning TFT.

Dr. Sakai also headed volunteer clinical teams to New Orleans post- Katrina to work with first responders and survivors. Dr. Sakai has presented at national and international conferences on TFT. She presented “Introduction to Thought Field Therapy with Emphasis on Clinical Applications with Anxiety and Stress” at the 17th World Congress on Psychosomatic Medicine, August 2003, Waikaloa, Hawaii. She presented “Rapid Reduction of Stress, Anger and Anxiety” at the 7th Annual International Energy Psychology Conference, April 2005. She also presented on TFT with genocide survivors at the Association of Thought Field Therapy Conference, October 2007, in Boston, Massachusetts. She co-presented a workshop at the 10th International Congress on Ericksonian Approaches to Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, December 2007 in Phoenix Arizona. She has published articles on TFT (Journal of Clinical Psychology, October 2001), EMDR (Psychotherapy, Fall 1997; International Journal of Stress Management, 2004) and domestic abuse (Families in Society, November 1991).

Dr. Sakai has also written on major depression and personality disorders, anxiety and panic disorder. Dr. Sakai currently is in full time private practice in Honolulu where she does individual, couples and family therapy, as well as consultations, and seminars and courses in Thought Field Therapy.
